BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local businesses in the Triangle are hiring seasonal staff to handle a busy holiday sales season. MitchellCasteel hired about 20 to 22 part-time workers for Thanksgiving meals and Gingham & Posh is recruiting students and community members—steps taken to meet rising holiday orders.  ABC 11
  • Apple requested more time to meet its hiring and investment goals for its planned East Coast hub in North Carolina and received an extension on its 2021 grant from the Economic Investment Committee on Tuesday. The tech company still plans to restart its Research Triangle Park project and build a Charlotte data center, aiming to create at least 2,700 local jobs by 2031 + boost economic growth in the area.  ABC 11

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Wake County maintenance crew discovered a large colony of bats in an underground stormwater system. Wildlife officials say the colony, which holds about 1,000 bats in warmer months and 125 in winter, is one of the largest in the area—showing that shrinking natural bat habitats are forcing bats into new spaces.  ABC 11
