- ➤ NC community colleges in the Triangle are offering fast-track programs that train workers for jobs in biopharma and public safety — enrollment has grown over 10% but waiting lists and a teacher shortage are challenges. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Two Apex police officers answered a call when a veteran barricaded himself in his home over a decade ago and later checked on him after his crisis subsided. That follow-up led them to work with crisis intervention trainer Roosevelt Richard—who helped launch the training program six months later—to develop a program that now guides law enforcement officers nationwide in assisting veterans with mental health issues.
