COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The PRCR Department will host its annual Halloween Boo Bash from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 18 in downtown Wake Forest + the free event is for children 12 and under. It features inflatables, ghostly games, and food trucks along parts of East Owen Ave, South Brooks St, and South Taylor St + free parking is available at local lots.  City of Wake Forest

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wake Forest Historic Preservation Commission will host cemetery preservation workshops from 10 a.m. to noon at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery on October 25 and at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery on November 1— the November session was rescheduled from October 4 due to a medical emergency. Participants must register online and wear protective clothing for outdoor conditions.  City of Wake Forest

HEALTH NEWS

  • Wake Forest Police and Wegmans will host a Drug Take Back event on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wegmans, 11051 Ligon Mill Road—participants will drop off expired or unused medications in their original containers for proper sorting and incineration by law enforcement.  City of Wake Forest
  • Instagram announced a new PG-13 content setting for teen users to limit violent and graphic posts after a study linked social media use with delays in teen brain development; local parents and experts at UNC Chapel Hill said the move—intended to lower stress from constant notifications and negative posts—could help protect young users.  ABC 11
