- ➤ The NC Attorney General filed a suit against Backyard Leisure after the company took large payments from customers but did not deliver hot tubs or complete pool work. The suit asks for over $520,000 in restitution—53 complaints have been filed since 2024, with 21 still unresolved. ABC 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Town of Wake Forest will host a Basics of Backyard Composting workshop on Oct. 20 from 5:45-6:45 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre at 405 S. Brooks St. to teach homeowners composting basics — the $5 fee is required for registration that supports the Turkey Drive and enters participants in a drawing for a free compost bin. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, crews will repair a section of asphalt along northbound South Franklin Street—just beyond Triumph Lane—from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; no lane closures are planned and motorists are advised to slow down for worker safety. City of Wake Forest

- ➤ Fans were excited as the Carolina Hurricanes opened their season against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at Lenovo Center—tailgating began at 4:30 p.m. as the team aimed to improve on last season's record. ABC 11
- ➤ NC State and Duke made the Final Four at the ACC Tipoff in Charlotte on October 9, 2025. Duke’s coach Jon Scheyer aims to guide his team to national success—NC State’s head coach Will Wade praised his squad’s recruiting strength as both teams prepare for season openers on November 3rd and November 4th.
