  • Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources will hold the annual Halloween Boo Bash on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Downtown Wake Forest—presented by Capital Chevrolet, the free festival will have inflatables, ghostly games, food trucks, and free parking from local partners.  City of Wake Forest

CULTURE NEWS

  • Back by popular demand, the Malpass Brothers will perform two shows on November 21 at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.—advance tickets cost $35 with reserved seating available.  City of Wake Forest
  • Dancing Man Productions, a theater group of artists 55 and older, is staging Guys and Dolls, Senior today at Raleigh Little Theatre with one-hour, 2 p.m. matinees—performances run until Oct. 10.  ABC 11
  • Wake Forest Public Art Commission is hosting a free community art celebration on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre at 405 S. Brooks St. — the event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a noon performance by Luke Vandergriff, student shows at 10 and 11 a.m., art activities for all ages, and free Kona Ice for the first 100 guests at 11 a.m.  City of Wake Forest

  • Millions of federal workers are facing a delay in pay as the government shutdown leaves tens of thousands of government and military employees in North Carolina without a current paycheck. A financial expert advised cutting non-essential spending and contacting banks for hardship programs while workers use savings carefully until a spending deal is reached.  ABC 11
