  • A new visa plan adds a $100K fee for H-1B visas that took effect early Sunday and may force companies in Wake Forest to rethink how they hire skilled tech workers. John Pennett from the National Technology and Life Sciences Group said firms might hire more local workers or shift jobs overseas—moves that could affect local employers like IBM and area universities.  ABC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate passed Iryna's Law on Monday that removes cashless bail and sets new pretrial rules for violent offenses while including an amendment that could let the state resume executions—Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman raised concerns over its impact on poverty and mental health. The bill now moves to the House.  ABC 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • Following a White House announcement that Tylenol use during pregnancy may increase autism risk, local experts urged caution—saying studies do not prove the medicine causes autism. Doctors from UNC Health explained that retrospective studies are limited—emphasizing that Tylenol remains a safe choice for managing pain and fever when necessary.  ABC 11
