  • BAGS will host its Roaring 20s Fundraising Gala on September 27 at the Life Enrichment Center in Raleigh & the nonprofit aims to raise $20,000 to fund its Emergency Bucks program for grandparents with new guardianships. The event will feature the interactive play Murder at the Cotton Club and invite guests to dress in 1920s style.  ABC 11

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wake County businesses benefit from biotech investment after Genentech broke ground on a $700 million facility in Holly Springs last month, which will create about 1,500 construction jobs and over 400 manufacturing jobs. Local owners like India Matlock of Asia's Cakes on Main Street say the new project shows the town’s growing economic promise—fueling further growth across the region.  ABC 11
  • Raleigh-Durham International Airport announced that Aer Lingus will start non-stop direct flights to Dublin starting April 13 — flights leave RDU at 8:25 p.m. and arrive at 8:45 a.m. the next day.  ABC 11

  • Wake, Durham, and Cumberland superintendents met to discuss plans to attract more qualified teachers amid a nationwide shortage. Each leader shared personal stories — including their shifts from other careers — and stressed the heavy duty of improving both student safety and academic success.  ABC 11
