  • After the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk during his visit to Utah Valley University, Triangle law enforcement and universities reviewed safety measures for large events—NC State said its police work with organizers while UNC and NC Central did not share details and Raleigh Police reported no changes to procedures amid calls for an after-action review.  ABC 11

  • The Federal Reserve lowered interest rates by a quarter of a point on Wednesday, and buyers now expect home and auto purchases to become more affordable. Prospective homebuyers and car shoppers in the region remain hopeful that lower rates will ease financing challenges—boosting market activity in the coming months.  ABC 11
