  • On August 25, a North Carolina man from Harnett County bought a Powerball Quick Pick ticket at Bass Country Store after seeing the jackpot soar to $1 billion—he later claimed a $150,000 win and said he was shaking from the excitement. He plans to use the prize money for home renovations and buying a car.  ABC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wake Forest Power crews are working on a power outage affecting over 600 customers along and west of South Main Street/US 1A. The cause is unknown and there is no timeline for service restoration yet—more information will be provided as available.  City of Wake Forest

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday night, August 30th, Wake Forest held off Kennesaw State 10-9 by forcing a key incomplete pass with 1:50 left, while Robby Ashford scored the only touchdown and coach Jake Dickert earned his first win — the team managed despite Demond Claiborne’s rib injury.  ABC 11
