Good morning, Wake Forest.

A fundraiser is working to help longtime Carolina Hurricanes hype man "Big Mike" Whiting as he faces serious health and housing challenges—he needs extensive dental work and a double hip replacement.

His close friend Jan Cooper organized the event that raised over $50,000 in less than a week.

A two-car crash on Interstate 540 in Wake County on August 1 left one person dead and two injured when the vehicles veered off, hit trees and caught fire—officials said the Subaru's lane change led to the chain reaction.

Camp workers and a Durham restaurant owner said they were not paid at CJF America’s summer camps, with a 19-year-old Wake Forest resident reporting that his check bounced on his first day while he helped manage 80 children with few supplies.

CJF America said it is addressing payment issues through legal counsel & several workers have filed complaints with the North Carolina Department of Labor.
