- ➤ Lawmakers, educators & parents say that federal education funding remains frozen, leaving the Wake County Public School System to wait on $8.1 million for critical services like reading programs and support for students with learning disabilities. Camp directors & community leaders warn that without these funds, summer camps and after-school programs may cut back services and force families to pay out-of-pocket for extra support. ABC 11
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The NCDHHS released a new action plan to lower rising suicide thoughts among Black youth after an analysis showed that 16.9% of Black high school students and 36.6% of Black middle school students reported serious suicidal thoughts. The six-part plan will boost mental health support, reduce access to lethal means, and enhance suicide prevention education — officials say these measures are key to reversing the trend. ABC 11
