  • Today, Ukrainians and Americans gathered on an ice rink in Wake Forest for Skate for Ukraine to raise funds for relief efforts — proceeds from the event will support supplies for Ukraine amid its ongoing fight against Russia.  ABC 11
  • The new RecConnect guide for fall and winter 2025-2026 is now available online and at Wake Forest Town Hall, Renaissance Centre, JPCC, FPCC and AMC. In-town registration begins on Aug. 1 for local residents and on Aug. 4 for outside residents using online or in-person methods.  City of Wake Forest
  • Francee Farms in Rocky Mount is a family business that uses goat milk to make 27 types of soap, candles, body washes, lotions and 5 ice cream flavors. The Chappell family started the venture after pandemic layoffs and has increased soap production to 54 bars a day — the only grade A goat farm in the state.  ABC 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is partnering with Brandon Wright of Play4Life Comics to host the 2025 Wake Forest Comic-Con on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St.—the free event will feature comic books, anime, toys, and collectibles for fans of all ages.  City of Wake Forest
  • The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre at 405 S. Brooks St. will begin selling tickets for its 2025-26 Main Stage Performance Series with public sales starting Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. — Patrons can purchase tickets on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and Friends on Wednesday, Aug. 20 as performances featuring acts like Tamer Elnoury and Marvelous Wonderettes run from Sept. 11 to April 25.  City of Wake Forest
