Good morning, Wake Forest.

Wake County leaders asked the public for input on how to invest $67M from opioid settlement funds—focused on prevention, treatment and recovery—during a meeting at the McKimmon Center at NC State.

The funding is set to support long-term initiatives over the next 17 years.

The Town of Wake Forest received a $15,000 Flagship Grant from AARP under its Community Challenge grant program to support livable neighborhoods (with a focus on residents aged 50 and older) as part of a nationwide effort.

NCDOT crews continue building the rail S-Line project in Wake County as they replace the at-grade crossing at New Hope Church Road with a new bridge.

The $22.7 million project will take about three years and is expected to cut travel time between Raleigh and Richmond, officials said.

New figures show the Carolina Hurricanes’ championship run delivered a $13.4M boost to Wake County’s economy from sold-out games + watch parties yesterday, with benefits that could support local growth.
