  • A free summer meal program provided meals every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at 16 sites in Wake County — including a new Willow Spring location at Beech Bluff County Park, where service began Tuesday, June 24.  ABC 11

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Software company BuildOps will build a $771,000 operations hub in Wake County and create 291 jobs in Raleigh following Governor Josh Stein’s announcement on Tuesday—The project is expected to boost local payroll by over $30 million per year and expand the tech talent pool in the area.  ABC 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services confirmed the first measles case this year when a child visiting Forsyth and Guilford counties from abroad was diagnosed on Tuesday, June 24. Health officials are working with local public health departments to track possible exposures and advise unvaccinated individuals to get their MMR vaccine—no personal details of the child were released.  ABC 11
  • A Johnston County family is desperate to bring husband PJ home after he was hospitalized in Hawaii with a fungal lung infection during an April vacation. His wife is raising funds to cover nearly $140,000 for his medical transport and plans to leave in the second week of July—charity flights have not come through—while caring for their special needs son who must return to his equestrian team.  ABC 11
