- ➤ At its June 17 meeting, the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners approved a $139 million budget for fiscal year 2025-26 that will guide Town programs starting July 1. The budget keeps current property and service district fees unchanged while raising the residential waste fee by $1/month and the power charge by 3% effective September 1—adding 18 full-time jobs. - ➤ Wake Forest Town Manager Kip Padgett announced that Interim Police Chief Julius Jefferson is now the permanent Police Chief—appointed after a nationwide search. Jefferson served as Interim Chief since February 1 and brings nearly 20 years of department experience. City of Wake Forest
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A dangerous heat wave is affecting central NC, and doctors warn that infants, young children, older adults, and people with chronic conditions must take breaks, drink fluids, and check playground equipment for burns. WakeMed treated 22 patients between June 1 and June 17, and cooling stations are open across the county—residents should look out for symptoms like dizziness and muscle cramps. ABC 11
