CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, June 16, Rolesville police responded to a shooting on the 400 block of South Main Street that left bullet holes in a police vehicle—one person is in custody and officials said there is no threat to the public. ABC 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wake Forest Power will close parts of Durham Road/NC 98 from June 24 to June 26 for tree trimming work; on Tuesday, June 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the road from South Wingate Street to Tyler Run Drive will be closed, and on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. it will operate with one lane and intermittent two-way traffic — motorists should plan alternate routes. - ➤ The Wake County Board of Commissioners approved a new 20-year lease with the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority for the original part of Lake Crabtree County Park—covering nearly 70 acres and including the 28-acre core with walking trails, picnic shelters, a playground, boat rentals and waterfront access. The lease excludes 148 acres with former mountain biking and hiking trails that closed on June 1 and will be redeveloped by the airport authority. ABC 11
- ➤ The Town of Wake Forest is inviting community members to apply for the Board of Adjustment—a volunteer role with a term through December 31 that will be announced on July 17. Applications are accepted online until July 4 and in person at Town Hall via a computer kiosk. City of Wake Forest
- ➤ Raleigh Water closed South Main Street/US 1A from Elm Avenue to West Owen Avenue due to a sewer main break, although water and sewer services remain unaffected and a detour is in place. Repair work will begin early today once crews finish an emergency task in Garner and the road is expected to reopen Tuesday afternoon (detour active). City of Wake Forest

- ➤ Today, cooling stations are open in Wake County to help residents beat the dangerous heat as temperatures feel like 100 degrees, with sites at public libraries, regional centers + health and human services centers in Wake Forest and other areas.
