COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Wake Forest PRCR Department will host a Dive-In Movie on Saturday, June 28, at Holding Park Aquatic Center to show Moana 2. Tickets cost $7 per person, gates will open at 8 p.m. and showtime is 8:30 p.m. — all attendees must check in for a wristband — as space is limited to the first 100 registrants. City of Wake Forest
- ➤ A new study revealed that more than 607,000 people in central and eastern North Carolina are food insecure this summer—an increase of nearly 47,000 from last year. The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina warned that families without school meals will face added challenges as key federal nutrition programs are impacted. ABC 11

- ➤ Southern Bank shared financial tips to help customers manage their money by advising on savings, investments, and mortgages—guidance meant to ease decisions amid a challenging market. ABC 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Town crews will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic on North White Street at the intersection with East Perry Avenue and close East Perry from North White Street to North Taylor Street on Wednesday, June 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A detour directs westbound traffic left onto North Taylor Street then right onto Lee Street and onto North White Street — flaggers will guide traffic as motorists may wish to use alternate routes. - ➤ The Wake Forest Social District will launch at noon on Thursday, June 5 and run until 9 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays. The Board approved an ordinance on March 18 that lets residents 21 and older buy drinks in a designated cup and enjoy them within clearly marked boundaries — participating businesses show decals that signal the rules. - ➤ Town crews will reduce a portion of South White Street to one lane on Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to noon near the intersection of East Roosevelt Avenue so tree crews can prune two street trees. Drivers should expect delays and plan to use alternate routes* to avoid the work zone. City of Wake Forest
- ➤ During the week of June 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, Wynn Site Development will reduce North White Street to one lane between East Spring and the CVS entrance so crews can safely restripe the road for future parking spaces (flaggers and signage will manage traffic and delays are expected). City of Wake Forest
- ➤ Wake County Board of Commissioners will vote on a $2.1B budget proposal that will spend a lot on education and follow new state rules while raising property taxes based on where you live. The plan will add a library bond tax—about $11 extra a year for a $450,000 home—and a fire tax for unincorporated areas and the Town of Wendell. ABC 11
