CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two 18-year-olds, Adrian Josiah Williams and Britton Deon Thomas Jr., were arrested on Tuesday for charges including prearranged speed competition, resisting a public officer, and fleeing to elude arrest+ both face additional charges with Thomas also charged with felony aiding and abetting+ their arrest follows a police chase on I-40 that began on May 11 and injured a Wake County deputy who is now recovering. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Wake County Board of Education looked at changes to its cell phone rule Tuesday that would stop young students from using phones and require high schoolers to store theirs in lockers or backpacks instead of pockets — some board members differ on when the rule should start. The board will vote on the change on June 3, and the new rule is expected to take effect for all public schools this school year. The Wake Weekly

- ➤ Rolesville Planning Board voted to recommend a text amendment that will let auto repair centers add up to 10 service bays while limiting three to face the public street—board members debated the unlimited provision and the proposal will go to the town board of commissioners for review.
