- ➤ Horses for Hope (a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2003) received the October Triangle NC Cares Award, recognizing its efforts to build hope and boost self-esteem for individuals with special needs in the Triangle area. ABC 11
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central NC students are competing at the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee held this week at Constitution Hall in Washington. Eight competitors include six from the Triangle area + representing local schools. ABC 11
- ➤ Wake County Public School System is working to develop an AI policy after a local parent raised concerns about its effect on student creativity. School officials and a board member stress the need for human oversight to regulate AI in grading and lesson planning. ABC 11
- ➤ Heritage High School tennis courts at 1150 Forestville Road are closed for renovations beginning today; the public school system is replacing the asphalt, adding new fencing, nets, benches, and sidewalks.
