- ➤ The Wake Forest Woman’s Club collected over 1,000 pounds of film plastic as part of the NexTrex Recycling Challenge and earned a garden bench—assembled and presented it to the Northeast Community Coalition for its community garden on North Taylor Street. - ➤ The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre at 405 S. Brooks St. invites artists of all ages to submit up to three original works for its Summer 2025 exhibit 'All About Anime' that celebrates Japanese art; submissions are due by May 26. Selected works will be shown in the Arts Annex from June 9 to August 18 and a free reception will be held on June 13 from 6—8 p.m. The Wake Weekly

- ➤ Tom Campbell reviewed a recent N.C. Budget and Tax Center report that says a family of four can live comfortably on $97,550 a year — his analysis shows that expenses for housing, childcare, food and healthcare often exceed this amount — leaving many families struggling. The Wake Weekly

- ➤ Wake County school leaders considered ending the practice of giving all students Chromebooks due to cost and security concerns—but they will keep the current device program for the next school year. A long-term plan is being developed to guide decisions for 2026-2027 and beyond. ABC 11

- ➤ The EPA announced it will roll back drinking water limits on three newer PFAS — including GenX chemicals found in local supplies — while keeping limits on PFOA and PFOS and giving utilities until 2031 to comply.
