  • Adrienne Thorpe Barnes of Wake Forest was charged with two counts of simple assault and accessory after the fact for fighting at Big Ed’s on Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh on Mother's Day (she is accused of punching two women and aiding her 23-year-old son, who fired shots, while a restaurant manager was injured) and another man from her home also faces assault charges.  ABC 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Wake County Public School System has unveiled a new mobile command vehicle that will be used during emergencies — like lockdowns and mass checkouts — to improve communication between school officials, families, and law enforcement. The vehicle is part of a state grant-funded project aimed at enhancing safety in local schools.  ABC 11

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Holding Park Aquatic Center will open for the season on Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m.—Wake Forest residents pay $1 for children ages 2 and under, $4 for ages 3-12, $5 for ages 13-59, and $4 for seniors, while non-residents face higher fees; pre-registration is recommended 14 days in advance to manage a 200-patron limit per three-hour session, and Punch Passes will be available beginning May 19.  City of Wake Forest

  • A Wake Forest couple has endured three to four months of living in a construction zone after a Lowe’s flooring project went wrong — their carpet was torn up, and materials did not match properly.
