- ➤ A Zebulon woman was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to a COVID-19 fraud scheme that stole more than $1.5M from federal aid programs, while her co-conspirator got 30 months and both must repay over $1M after Wake County complaints led to local and federal investigations. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Carolina lawmakers advanced bills on gun rights, immigration and parental rights as they wrapped up work early this week ahead of the crossover deadline. Lawmakers approved measures to ease concealed carry, restrict benefits for undocumented immigrants and require parental consent for more medical treatments+further decisions on budget and other legislation are set to follow. - ➤ Beginning Monday, May 12, Park Construction of NC will use one lane on North Allen Road from East Walnut Avenue to East Juniper Avenue and on East Juniper from North Allen Road to North White Street for the water main replacement and repair project, with work occurring weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through early June.
