ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Carolina's unemployment rate dropped to 3.7% in March as the state added 9,400 jobs, and county-level data will be released May 19. Job gains came mainly from Trade, Transportation and Utilities, Manufacturing, + Leisure and Hospitality.  ABC 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wake County Public Schools notified parents Wednesday about a Canvas data breach that may have exposed personal data of students+staff. State education officials and Duke University are working with tech partners to assess impacts while Canvas remains operational.  ABC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Town of Wake Forest was named Top Overall Employer at the Gallagher High Performing Employer Summit on April 29 in Orlando + HR Director Angela McCray accepted the award on behalf of her team, which earned a Best-in-Class Employer honor earlier for its strong focus on employee wellbeing.  City of Wake Forest

  • The Carolina Hurricanes (2-0 in the series) played Game 3 of their NHL second-round matchup in Philadelphia on Thursday night, relying on improved penalty control and a full roster to sustain their unbeaten playoff run. They aim to build on this momentum in their next contest.  ABC 11
