- ➤ Wake County School Board voted Tuesday night on a $10M budget that cut extra support staff and paused extra-duty pay for mentors — sparing special education. Parents and teachers said they wanted clearer details to protect vulnerable students. ABC 11

- ➤ On Tuesday, May 5, boaters at Falls Lake faced challenges as low water levels and Stage 1 restrictions (84% remaining) complicated safe navigation amid drought, and experts warned that further declines could endanger inexperienced boaters. ABC 11
