  • Wake Forest and local veterans’ organizations will hold the 60th Memorial Flag-Raising Ceremony on May 5 at 11 a.m. at Town Hall’s Centennial Plaza to honor U.S. Army veteran George Evans Jr.—his family will join the event that features patriotic songs, a memorial wreath laying, and the raising of both the American and U.S. Army service flags.  The Wake Weekly

  • Wake County Public Schools approved a ban on cellphones in March and will enforce the new rules next school year to cut distractions in class.   • Wake Forest Power crews responded yesterday to a power outage affecting about 77 customers in Downtown Wake Forest, including areas on East Owen Avenue, South Taylor Street, East Jones Avenue and South White Street—cause remains unknown.  City of Wake Forest
