  • The Wake Forest Police Department will host a Benefit Bar-B-Que for Danielle Murray, wife of Police Sgt. Kevin Murray, on May 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wake Forest Fire Station 1 at 420 Elm Ave to raise money for her costly cancer treatments.  City of Wake Forest

BUSINESS NEWS

  • THC-infused seltzers are now appearing in local Wake Forest stores like grocery stores, gas stations, and liquor stores as consumers seek new drink options. CRIME NEWS

  • A Wake Forest woman, Sonya Lenise Davis, was sentenced on April 22 to six months in prison—followed by one year of home confinement—for lying on Covid-19 loan forms to get over $85,000 in relief funds; she pled guilty in August 2024 and used fake documents to boost her company’s numbers.  The Wake Weekly
  • Wake County man Christopher McCullough is accused of fatally beating his mother, aged 75, at a Raleigh home on August 6, 2023—police said he also hurt his father, who was hospitalized, and he is in jail as jury selection began Monday and will continue for several days.  ABC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • DMV lines are long in the Triangle area as local drivers wait to get a REAL ID before the May 7 deadline when federal rules will require a REAL ID, U.S. passport or another approved ID to board flights and enter federal buildings. Extended service hours and Saturday walk-in service will begin on June 7 — efforts aimed at reducing long waits at driver license offices.  ABC 11
