- ➤ Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources will host the free online Battle in the Forest Esports tournament featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Saturday, May 17 as players aged 10 and older compete in a double-elimination format streamed live on Twitch. Registration is open until May 14 and if over 32 players sign up the event will expand to two days with additional prizes including an 8Bitdo Arcade Stick and an Esports scholarship. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A single vehicle crash closed Durham Road/NC 98 between South Wingate Street and Tyler Run Drive on Tuesday, April 22 at 1:56 p.m.—emergency personnel were on scene and motorists are urged to use alternate routes as no serious injuries were reported. City of Wake Forest

- ➤ On Tuesday, April 22nd, the Wake County Public School Board discussed changes to how cell phones are managed at elementary, middle, and high schools. Board members debated options for emergencies and confiscation—focusing on when phones might be returned and who is responsible if a phone is lost after being taken away. ABC 11

- ➤ The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department and Pickles and Play are hosting the 2025 Spring Smash Pickleball Tournament at Flaherty Park Pickleball Courts and Tennis Complex, 1226 N. White St.—registration is open until May 11 with fees of $45 per player plus $10 for each additional event.
