  • The Wake Forest Police Department and Wake Forest Fire Department will host Public Safety Day on Friday, April 24 (2-7 p.m.) at Ashcroft Ace Hardware, 12225 Capital Blvd. The free event will feature vehicle displays, an inflatable smoke house, and booths on fire and crime prevention.  City of Wake Forest
  • Wake Forest Police and Target are hosting a free Car Seat Check & Installation event Tuesday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at Wake Forest Target at 12000 Retail Dr, where technicians help parents install seats properly; if it rains, the event reschedules to Friday, May 1.  City of Wake Forest

EDUCATION NEWS

  • TechBridge Girls is expanding its free STEM education programs across local schools in the Triangle with a new Research Triangle Park base led by Jennifer Stancil as Women's History Month ends — aiming to boost girls' confidence in hands-on STEM learning.  ABC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At RDU, TSA workers received partial backpay on Monday for overdue wages amid the spring travel rush while union leaders say many remain unpaid and urge Congress to approve full funding.  ABC 11
  • Paving Pros, LLC will reduce the lane on Forestville Road from Song Sparrow Drive to Pine Valley Drive on weekdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. until Friday, Apr. 10 to install a new right turn lane. Flaggers will guide traffic during the work.  City of Wake Forest

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nikel Rodgers of East Wake set a national record by hitting 17 three pointers at Guilford Technical Community College on Monday, Mar. 30. He scored 54 points in a 105 to 68 win and now is drawing interest from four-year programs.  ABC 11
