COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Starting later today and running through late spring, the Taylor Street Park Playground at 416 N. Taylor St. will close for renovations as crews remove old features and prepare for new equipment (cost: $700,000), and construction is set to begin early spring.  City of Wake Forest

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts, located at 405 S. Brooks St., invites local businesses and individuals to join its 2026 Partners Circle Donor Program by donating annual gifts of $500 (Ruby), $1,000 (Sapphire), $2,000 (Gold), or $3,500 (Magenta). The deadline to join is Tuesday, March 31.  City of Wake Forest

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Wake County School Board is reviewing three plans to update historic Ligon Magnet School by either renovating for $102 million over four years, rebuilding for $147 million, or replacing ballfields for $121 million with mobile classrooms adding $26 million — a vote will be held in March.  ABC 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Parks & Recreation Maintenance Manager Randy Hoyle recently completed PRMMS, a two-year professional development program held in Wheeling, West Virginia. Hoyle, who joined the town in 2005 and was named Employee of the Year in 2014, now will apply enhanced skills in maintenance management.  City of Wake Forest
  • Residents can apply for the 2026 Planning 101 session until 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23 at Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St. The course, held on four consecutive Wednesdays from May 6 to 27, covers local planning topics + includes dinner, and selected applicants will be notified by March 16.  City of Wake Forest
