COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The large dog park at Flaherty Dog Park remains closed through late February or early March as winter storms delayed work on permanent fencing, drainage installation and soil erosion repairs. Meanwhile, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department maintains a rotating schedule for small and large dogs at the small park (signage posted at 1100 N.   • Raleigh-based Serotone Swim launched a collection of 12 customizable swimwear pieces last June to help women over 40 find better fitting options. Owner Sarah Blaser said her mom’s menopause struggles inspired the NC-made designs (from her work in New York).  ABC 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Wake Forest Fire Department offers CPR Certification classes at the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. Residents may take a four-hour or seven-hour session covering CPR, AED use, and basic first aid for $35 per person + preregistration is required.  City of Wake Forest

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Heart Association is the February Triangle NC Cares Award winner & is honored for reducing heart disease by cutting cardiovascular deaths in half. The monthly award recognizes nonprofits making a significant impact in the local community.  ABC 11
