COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Forest Fest will return to downtown Wake Forest on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Vendors and nonprofits can apply online until Sunday, Feb. 8; food trucks are already secured and only nature-related offerings are accepted.  City of Wake Forest

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Renaissance Centre will host Sirens of Song featuring Shana Tucker on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at (405 S. Brooks St.) where Tucker will join pianist Christian Tamburr and his trio to honor jazz legends; advance tickets cost $35 and $40 and are available online or at the box office.  City of Wake Forest

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wake County Animal Shelter is closing for repairs starting Friday until March 2 to fix exposed brick, kennels, floors (and walls) to keep animals safe. It will not accept new animals or allow adoptions during this period.  ABC 11
  • Travelers entering RDU after Feb. 1 will face a $45 fine if they do not have a REAL ID, which leads to extra screening and delays. DMV officials urge residents to schedule appointments soon to secure their IDs before the busy summer season.  ABC 11
